James McPhaul

Business Advisor, NORTHEAST TEXAS SMALL BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Having spent nearly 40 years engaged in both for-profit and non-profit business environments, James has acquired broad experience in commercial enterprise, developed from practicing in multiple diverse industries from automotive and aviation support services to home health and transportation businesses, as well as building materials and both retail and wholesale home furnishings industries.

Operative in an extensive range of roles from marketing and sales, to administration, operations and management, he provides a unique skillset to draw upon in his newest role as a Business Advisor for the Northeast Texas Small Business Development Center.

A graduate of North Carolina State University, James holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, as well as several additional post-graduate certifications, including dual licensure as a Real Estate Agent and commercial and residential Building Inspector in the state of Texas. Additionally, he achieved certification in strategic planning for aviation service firms at Northwestern University in Chicago, IL.

A seasoned business professional, James is a strong believer in the power of entrepreneurship, small business, and individual commercial initiative. As an entrepreneur himself, he is thoroughly familiar with the business cycle from idea, planning and start-up, to growth, maturity, and exit strategy.

He firmly believes in the essential process of solid business planning, and is proficient in industry and market research, spreadsheets and other financial tools, preparation of business plans, commercial and guaranteed loan packaging, as well as development of the accompanying narratives as required.

He is eager to assist entrepreneurs as clients of the Northeast Texas Small Business Development Centers in Northeast Texas.
